Paton was established in 1958 following the closure of FB Mondial’s racing department. Giuseppe Pattoni, Mondial’s chief mechanic, and designer Lino Tonti founded the brand using leftover Mondial components. In 1958, the Paton 125 debuted at the Isle of Man TT, with Mike Hailwood finishing seventh. During the 1960s, Paton developed 250cc and 350cc bikes, achieving success in Italian championships with riders like Angelo Bergamonti. In 2016, SC-Project, a leading exhaust system manufacturer, acquired Paton, revitalizing the brand. The Paton S1-R won the Isle of Man TT in 2017 (Michael Rutter) and 2018 and 2024 (Michael Dunlop), with Dunlop setting a world-record 29th TT win in 2024.
